The Iranian Revolutionary Guards vowed, at dawn on Sunday, to target American universities in the Middle East, after it reported that American and Israeli strikes had destroyed two universities in Iran. He said in a statement published by Iranian media, "If the American government wants these universities in the region not to be subjected to retaliatory responses, it must condemn the bombing of the universities in an official statement before Monday, March 30, at noon." The Revolutionary Guard advised employees, professors and students of American universities in the region to stay at least one kilometer away from the universities that may be targeted. There are branches of many American universities in the Gulf countries, such as Texas A&M University in Qatar, and New York University in the United Arab Emirates. On the night of Friday and Saturday, explosions were heard in Tehran, targeting the University of Science and Technology in the northeast of the city, causing damage to buildings but causing no casualties, according to media reports.
