Yemeni government forces announce control of the city of Mokha

Yemeni government forces announced on Monday that they had taken control of the city of Mokha, west of Taiz Governorate, after violent battles with the Houthi group.
A military source indicated to the Yemeni News Agency "Saba" that the forces were able to impose their control on the city located on the Red Sea coast in western Yemen, after confrontations with the Houthis who had been controlling it since the beginning of last September.
He pointed out that the battles that took place in a number of locations surrounding the city of Mokha, during which various types of weapons were used, resulted in deaths and injuries among the Houthis, the capture of a number of their members, and the escape of others.
Earlier Monday, Yemeni government forces announced their control of the Bab al-Mandab area and Dhubab Airport in southwestern Yemen, according to the German News Agency.
It also announced the start of “implementing a strategic attack on Sanaa,” which is controlled by the Houthis, according to the spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, Majid Abdullah Al-Nuzaili.
The head of the Yemeni Presidential Command Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, announced the launch of a military operation called "Yemen's Dawn", with the aim of ending the Houthis' control over various areas of the country.
