Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Sunday that the maritime domain has become an arena for an international battle, especially in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab.
Netanyahu said during his visit to the Israeli Navy base in Ashdod, accompanied by Defense Minister Yisrael Katz: “Today I am visiting the Navy base in Ashdod, accompanied by the Minister of Defense and the commanders of the Navy. I am very impressed with the strength, the personnel, and the equipment. We know that the maritime domain has become, in fact, an international battlefield. We see that in the Strait of Hormuz, and we see it, of course, in Bab al-Mandab.”
He added: "Our enemies want to threaten our maritime space in the Mediterranean, as well as our ports and maritime traffic. Naturally, we will not allow this to happen."
Netanyahu continued: "I heard from the security establishment that they need more equipment. A sixth submarine has arrived in the country, and they want more; more ships, and other means that I do not intend to go into details here. But I will tell you one thing: In this field as well, whether above or under the water, I intend for Israel to be one of the leading countries in the world in this type of war."
