Morcos denounced the assassination of journalists: a deliberate war crime
Fady Mahouly
The Minister of Information, Lawyer Paul Morcos, issued the following statement: “Once again, we are saddened by the martyrdom of journalists, and we condemn and denounce in the strongest terms Israel’s repeated and deliberate targeting of journalists. Today, we are also horrified by the martyrdom of journalists Ali Shuaib and Fatima Fattouni and her brother, photojournalist Mohamed Fattouni, while carrying out their professional duty in Jezzine.”
He stressed that "what happened constitutes a deliberate and described war crime against the media and the message of the press, in addition to a growing record of targeting the media and journalists," noting that "two days ago we handed over to the United Nations Special Coordinator in Lebanon, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, a detailed list of attacks on the media body and health and medical personnel in Lebanon. Yesterday, we also sent the information we collected to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, which... We are grateful to complete a file on the necessary action, complaint, and protest, and we will hand over a similar list on Wednesday to the European Union Ambassador to Lebanon, Sandra De Waele, calling on the international community to take immediate international action to help us put an end to this bloody approach and hold it accountable.”
He concluded: “Mercy to the martyred journalists and may God protect their colleagues.”
