The Supermarket Syndicate expressed its confidence in the Lebanese consumer’s awareness and ability to distinguish between facts and populism, stressing its commitment to legitimate competition, price stability, and supporting purchasing power. The union called on the state to reduce taxes and fees, especially suspending the fuel tax amounting to 300,000 liras, until its prices decrease globally. The union warned that “imported inflation not only reflects negatively on the consumer, but also harms institutions and undermines their ability to continue.”
