The Ministry of Economy and Trade announced an adjustment in the price of a loaf of white Lebanese bread, as a result of the significant increase in fuel prices, especially diesel, which represents about 22% of the cost of production. According to the decision, the price of a bundle in bakeries became 75,000 Lebanese pounds instead of 70,000, and in shops it was 90,000 Lebanese pounds instead of 85,000. The Ministry confirmed that this increase is temporary and linked to the cost of fuel, and will be reconsidered as soon as global prices decrease to ensure a balance between consumer protection and production sustainability.
