The US Embassy in Lebanon issued the following statement: “Every day, the Lebanese people clearly demonstrate their preference for the institutions of the Lebanese state over the weapons of Hezbollah. South Lebanon does not belong to regional actors or militias. The United States commends these communities and supports the government of Lebanon in its stated goal of imposing sovereignty, which the Lebanese army will enforce, and ensuring that decisions on war and peace remain exclusively in the hands of the Lebanese state.”
