President Joseph Aoun returned to Beirut yesterday evening, concluding his visit to the Vatican City and Italy. During his visit, President Aoun discussed developments in Lebanon with Pope Leo XIV. He also held meetings with Italian President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, which dealt with bilateral relations and the situation in Lebanon and the region. The discussions touched on the efforts and preparations for the phase that follows the end of the mission of the international forces “UNIFIL” in southern Lebanon.
