The Minister of Public Works and Transport, Fayez Rasamny, representing Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, accompanied by the Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon and the Head of the Supreme Council of Customs, inspected the factory border point, where they were informed of the work of the “scanner” device in conjunction with its official entry into operation, in a step that coincided with the resumption of the export of Lebanese products to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. From the factory, Rasamny announced the start of the resumption of Lebanese exports to Saudi Arabia, considering that this step “represents an important stage” for the Lebanese economy and the trade exchange movement. Rasamny thanked the Saudi leadership for the decision to resume receiving Lebanese exports, stressing that the Lebanese authorities are working to control the crossings and develop export mechanisms, in a way that enhances confidence in Lebanese products and facilitates their access to foreign markets. Regarding the land crossings, Rasamny revealed that periodic meetings are held with the Syrian side with the aim of developing the economy of the two countries and facilitating the movement of transport and trade. He also announced that work is underway to open the Al-Aboudi crossing, noting that its operation will contribute to relieving congestion and pressure on the Masnaa crossing, and provide an additional outlet for truck movement and land trade. For his part, the Saudi ambassador announced from the factory that the Kingdom stands alongside Lebanon to restore its sovereignty over its entire territory, and said: “We are always with Lebanon and the Lebanese.”
