US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he will meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un this year, in their first meeting since the start of his second term. In response to a journalist's question about whether he intends to meet Kim later in 2026, Trump said: "Yes, I will," during a tour of a new helipad that he is building at the White House. Trump noted that "North Korea possesses 57 nuclear weapons." Earlier today, Kim Yo Jong, the sister of the North Korean leader, confirmed that she was not aware of communication between Kim Jong Un and Trump. Kim Yo Jong, who has wide influence in Pyongyang, said: “Regarding the recent information coming out of Washington regarding communication between the leaders of North Korea and the United States, I have no knowledge of it at all, and this may be the only issue related to the foreign policy of our higher authorities, with which I am not aware.” However, Kim Yo Jong said that her brother still has "good memories and feelings" toward Trump, and that the relationship between the two men remains "excellent."
