French President Emmanuel Macron signed the euthanasia law in France on Wednesday, according to the Official Gazette.
The French Parliament approved this text in mid-July, while the Constitutional Council approved it on August 14, considering that it is consistent with the constitution.
The law provides for the right to euthanasia in France for people in the late or final stages of a serious and terminal illness.
This procedure is available if a person suffers from severe pain due to a disease that cannot be cured or becomes unbearable when treatment is stopped.
People over the age of 18, who hold French citizenship or legal permanent residence in the country, are entitled to request assistance in dying.
