Diplomatic sources confirmed that the Western and Islamic countries that will participate in the force to be formed in the south have not yet been decided, amid Israeli objections to the participation of countries, including France and Spain.
She pointed out that Hezbollah rejects the participation of British military units in the south, threatening to treat them as an “occupying force.” It also reported information about the party’s refusal to participate with soldiers from Azerbaijan, as one of its leaders said that the party “will hunt them like birds” if they participate in the south.
She indicated that the position on Azerbaijan is linked, according to the party, to its relations with Israel and the presence of Israeli bases on its territory near the Iranian border.
On the other hand, information indicated that Israel prefers Britain’s participation in the force, as it is more confident in its performance with regard to the mission of disarming the party, while it continues to reject the participation of French and Spanish units, knowing that France plays an essential role within the UNIFIL forces in the south.
