President Aoun: The war could have been avoided or Israel would have withdrawn from Lebanon

President Joseph Aoun indicated during his reception of British official Admiral Edward Ahlgren on Tuesday that “Lebanon cannot fight other people’s wars on its soil, and this is what the Council of Ministers specified in the decision it took weeks ago.”
Aoun stressed that "there is no going back from the government's decisions regarding the exclusivity of weapons and the decision to make peace and war, because they are consistent with what was stipulated in the constitution, the Taif Agreement, the oath letter, and the ministerial statement."
He pointed out that "the war could have been avoided if Israel had responded to the calls to withdraw from the lands it occupied and adhered to the 2024 agreement."
He continued: Israel's bombing of bridges aims to isolate the villages and towns south of the Litani from the rest of the Lebanese regions, with the negative repercussions that this condemned action has.
