Geagea: Iran bears responsibility for this war and compensation for its results

The head of the Lebanese Forces Party, Samir Geagea, affirmed that “the war we are experiencing today is par excellence Iran’s war in Lebanon, and is not the result of an internal Lebanese decision,” stressing that “the decision on war and peace must be exclusively in the hands of the Lebanese state,” refusing to “make the citizen bear the cost of destruction,” and stressing that “Iran bears responsibility for this war and compensation for its results.”
Geagea launched these positions on the occasion of Mother's Day, when he met a delegation of mothers and women from the Chekka and Batroun regions.
He said: "Hezbollah is trying to justify what is happening to its environment, while the Lebanese are now realizing the reality of what is happening," considering that "the legitimate institutions, from the House of Representatives to the government, are the only body authorized to make fateful decisions. The continuation of this reality for more than fifteen months has caused serious damage to Lebanon, in the absence of any actual international support due to the presence of weapons outside the framework of the state," pointing out that "all Lebanese are affected by this war, albeit to varying degrees."
Pointing out that the human and material losses were very large, amounting to billions of dollars, he refused to “burden the Lebanese citizen or the state treasury with the cost of the destruction,” stressing that “Iran bears responsibility for this war and compensation for its results, since it is the one fighting it through its agents on Lebanese territory.”
He reassured that "despite the difficulty of the current stage, there is an opportunity to end this situation, by restricting weapons to the Lebanese state, which opens the door to a new, better stage for Lebanon."
He stressed that "the reasons that necessitate war must be decided by the Lebanese state, represented by the government," noting that "the Lebanese people elected the House of Representatives, which is the source of legitimacy in making fateful decisions."
He explained, "The people of the south and the southern suburbs are exposed to direct damage, but all Lebanese suffer losses, even in varying proportions, even though they did not want war in the first place."
Seeing that "the current situation is difficult, but nothing lasts," Geagea expressed his hope that "this stage that we are witnessing will actually end, once and for all, for the last time."
He considered that "the initiative of President Joseph Aoun was met with American and Israeli rejection, as it is conditional on disarming Hezbollah before starting any negotiations."
On the occasion, Geagea stressed that "the mother is the natural incubator on earth, and if she is absent, there is no life. Hence her importance and the necessity of caring for her. When I remember the mother, I liken her to the forces. This equation is very simple, considering that the forces have played the role of the mother in society for fifty years."
Geagea touched on "the reality of immigration in Lebanon that has existed for forty years as a result of several reasons, most notably the policies of the former Syrian regime. However, circumstances today are changing, and Lebanon is entering a new phase."
In her speech, the head of the Committee for Activating the Role of Women in Chekka, Hind Bou Haddad, thanked the Chief of the Forces for his constant interest in the Women’s Committee and strengthening its role in various fields. She said: “I convey the concerns of mothers, especially the migration of their children, and we place our trust in you, Hakim, considering that you are the difficult figure in Lebanese politics.”
As for the head of the Committee for Activating the Role of Women in Batroun, Margaret Farah, she stressed “the importance of the role of women, and mothers in particular, which is not limited to the family only, but extends to being an effective force in building the nation and shaping its future.”
In conclusion, the delegation presented Geagea with a souvenir of an olive tree in the shape of the Lebanese cedar.
