The Iranian Tasnim News Agency reported that the United States and Israel launched an attack on the Natanz uranium enrichment facility this Saturday morning.
The agency added that the country's Nuclear Safety System Center conducted technical and expert investigations into the possibility of the spread of radioactive contamination in the vicinity of the facility.
She continued: "Based on the results reached, no leakage of radioactive materials has been reported in this complex, and there is no danger threatening the residents of the surrounding areas."
The Natanz facility was first announced in 2002 as part of the Iranian nuclear program, and later became the center of international negotiations regarding the nuclear agreement.
The facility contains underground enrichment halls, designed to fortify it against air attacks, in addition to above-ground facilities. Natanz is used to operate thousands of centrifuges, including advanced models such as the IR-6.
On June 22, 2025, the United States launched massive strikes on Iran as part of an operation called “Midnight Hammer.”
The operation then targeted 3 major nuclear sites: Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan.
In Natanz specifically, the facility was bombed with bunker buster bombs from B-2 aircraft. Tomahawk missiles were also launched from submarines towards the site.
American officials said at the time that the Natanz facility was “destroyed,” while other estimates indicated that the damage was significant but “did not end the Iranian nuclear program.”
