According to information, President Nabih Berri is adhering to his position of refusing to negotiate until a ceasefire, while former Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt stressed that any negotiation cannot take place without Shiite representation. The information added that US Ambassador Michel Issa tried to convince Berri to participate in the negotiating delegation during their last meeting, but Berri stuck to his position of refusing to negotiate before reaching a ceasefire.
