The President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, confirmed that the developments of the past days have proven the validity of the option to go to negotiation, pointing out that it is the only method approved throughout the world to achieve national goals and restore all rights. He said, while chairing a meeting attended by the Army Commander, General Rudolf Heikal, and members of the advisory team accompanying the negotiations: “In the next two days, we went to a new round that we hope will be decisive on the way to achieving the good we want for our country and our people, and this good we see in restoring Lebanon’s complete sovereignty over every atom of soil and extending state authority over every human being on our land.” He added: "We will only accept the end of the Israeli occupation and the fall of foreign guardianships together, because our only option is our national sovereignty, and our only bet is the Lebanese state, which alone and no one else protects everyone, preserves the freedoms and dignity of everyone, makes sacrifices fruitful, and removes all kinds of fear and injustice from everyone." He described it as an example of Lebanon's contemporary history and the will of the people.
