President Aoun noted the positions announced by Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa in his recent television speech, in which he stressed his country’s keenness on Lebanon’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, and that Syria does not intend to intervene militarily in Lebanon, and that any Syrian role passes exclusively through the Lebanese state and not through other parties, and that his country wants to enhance Lebanon’s stability and strengthen its official institutions, not replace them. Presidents Aoun and Macron agreed to maintain communication between them to follow up on ongoing developments and communications to stabilize the ceasefire in Lebanon and extend state authority over its entire territory.
