Today, Tuesday, at Baabda Palace, the President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, received the Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Ahmed Al-Hajjar, where the current political situation was presented and an emphasis was placed on support for the steps taken by the President of the Republic with the aim of strengthening security and stability in Lebanon. The discussion also addressed the decision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to resume importing Lebanese exports, while welcoming this step that reflects confidence in the President of the Republic, the government, and the measures taken by the Ministry of Interior and the Lebanese security services. On the security level, Minister Al-Hajjar stressed the essential role played by the security services at this stage, informing President Aoun of the measures and procedures that the Ministry is taking in preparation for the start of work at Rene Moawad Airport in Klayaat. Al-Hajjar stressed that the security services will continue to strengthen their procedures and deployment in various Lebanese regions, especially in the capital, Beirut, in order to preserve security and stability. President Aoun also presented with MP Melhem Riachi, delegated by the head of the Lebanese Forces Party, Samir Geagea, the general situation in Lebanon and the region in light of recent developments, the course of the American-Iranian negotiations in Switzerland and Lebanon’s position on them, in addition to preparations for the new round of Lebanese-American-Israeli negotiations in Washington, scheduled for this afternoon. The President of the Republic received Representative Michel Murr, who after the meeting affirmed support for the national approach led by President Aoun in order to save Lebanon, put an end to the war, strengthen the state’s authority, consolidate stability, and protect the country from the repercussions of regional conflicts. He also stressed that the delicate stage that Lebanon is going through requires the broadest degree of national unity around constitutional institutions, most notably the presidency of the republic, in addition to providing full support to the Lebanese army and legitimate security forces. President Aoun also received MP Ahmed Al-Khair, who stressed the importance of continuing diplomatic efforts to stabilize the ceasefire and spare Lebanon any threat to its security and stability. Al-Khair noted the President of the Republic’s assertion that no one negotiates on behalf of Lebanon or speaks on its behalf, praising his national stances and the endeavors he is leading at the internal and external levels to protect Lebanon and enhance its stability, stressing that he stands by his side and supports all steps that serve the national interest. President Aoun also received the Archbishop of Montevideo in Uruguay, Cardinal Daniel Fernando Sturla, accompanied by the General President of the Maronite Marian Order, Abbot Edmond Rizk, and the head of the monastic mission in Uruguay, Father Cesar Lahoud. The meeting discussed the situation of the Lebanese community and people of Lebanese origin in Uruguay, in addition to bilateral relations between the two countries. The President of the Republic stressed the pivotal role played by the deployed Lebanese in strengthening Lebanon’s presence in the world and consolidating its role as a bridge of communication and dialogue between the East and the West.
