The “Electricité du Liban” Corporation announced, in a statement, that, “In reference to the statement of the Electricité du Liban Corporation dated 06/18/2026, and due to the repeated Israeli attacks, the main 66 kV substation in Wadi Gilo was out of service on 04/01/2026 as a result of the disruption of the main 66 kV Tire-Wadi Gilo transmission line due to the destruction of a high-voltage tower in the Bazouriyeh area and the interruption of transmissions in many areas along the line’s route. Accordingly, the Electricité du Liban Corporation would like to announce to the citizens that, as a result of the tireless efforts made by the Corporation in support of the Lebanese Army, and over the past week of continuous maintenance work carried out by our technical teams, it was able to re-install a new tower in place of the destroyed tower. It was also able to repair all the conductors on the line’s route in extremely dangerous conditions, which led to the restoration of electrical supply to the main substation in Wadi Gilo, which supplies large areas of the Tyre district. Accordingly, the Foundation thanks the army leadership for the support and cooperation to accomplish this mission in harsh conditions and imminent risks, which our technical teams gratefully endured. The Corporation is also interested in informing the citizens of the Nabatieh district that the Corporation’s technical teams will begin repairs in the near future after obtaining the required approvals on the route of the Zahrani-Nabatieh 66 kV line, following the Nabatieh station being taken out of service on 06/19/2026, due to the aforementioned transmission line being exposed to severe damage in the Kfarjouz area and other areas that have not yet been identified. The Corporation is also waiting to obtain the required approvals to begin maintenance work in the Tubna Industrial Zone on the Zahrani-Tyre 220 KV line to reconnect the main 220 KV Tire station with the Zahrani plant, as the Corporation was forced to operate the Tire thermal plant on an exceptional basis to supply the city of Tire and part of its district until the work on the Zahrani-Tyre 220 KV line is completed. The statement concluded: “The Electricité du Liban is doing everything necessary to complete repairs on all high-, medium- and low-voltage networks in the governorates of the South and Nabatieh and the West Bekaa District, within the available capabilities, and will inform the people of the South of any new information in this regard as soon as new data is available.”
