J.D. Vance arrives in Switzerland ahead of the start of a new round of American-Iranian negotiations

US Vice President J.D. Vance arrived today, Sunday, in Switzerland, where it is expected that a new round of negotiations will begin between the United States and Iran, within the framework of following up on the implementation of the memorandum of understanding signed between the two parties.
De Vance's plane landed at the Emmen Air Base near Lucerne in central Switzerland at 3:59 GMT, according to his spokesman.
The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the technical talks will begin with the participation of representatives from the United States and Iran, along with mediators from Pakistan and Qatar, within the framework of following up on the implementation of the memorandum of understanding signed in Islamabad, which paves the way for a negotiating path extending for 60 days, with the possibility of extending it with the agreement of both parties.
The American negotiating delegation, headed by envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, arrived in Switzerland, while the Iranian delegation headed by the Speaker of the Shura Council, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, arrived and includes Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, Central Bank Governor Abdel Nasser Hemmati, and Deputy Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Ali Bagheri, along with officials in the energy, oil, and foreign affairs files, indicating that the economic and financial files will be strongly present on the agenda.
It is expected that the first round will focus on establishing the executive framework for the negotiations and mechanisms for implementing the memorandum of understanding, in addition to the Iranian nuclear program, sanctions, and navigation security in the Strait of Hormuz.
