Iran announces the re-closure of the Strait of Hormuz and sends a delegation to Switzerland

Iran announced yesterday, Saturday, that it will re-close the strategic Strait of Hormuz to maritime traffic, in response to Israel's continued launch of bloody attacks in southern Lebanon, coinciding with its sending a delegation to Switzerland to continue talks aimed at ending the war in the Middle East based on the memorandum of understanding between the two parties.
This came on a day when the Israeli army carried out bloody raids on Lebanon, which it said were in response to Tehran's ally Hezbollah targeting its forces in the south of the country, while the latter insisted on the "right to confront" the attacks.
US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed remotely on Wednesday night the memorandum of understanding that stipulated stopping the war, including the Lebanon front, opening the Strait of Hormuz and lifting the US blockade on Iranian ports. This is supposed to be followed by negotiations aimed at reaching a final agreement that includes files, the most important of which is the Iranian nuclear program, within 60 days.
The headquarters of Khatam al-Anbiya, the central operations room of the Iranian forces, said in a statement, “In view of the United States’ clear violation of its covenants and its violation of the agreement by not implementing the first clause of the understanding to end the war, and in response to the continuing and ongoing violations of the ceasefire by the Zionist entity in southern Lebanon... we announce that the Strait of Hormuz will be closed to maritime traffic.”
He stressed that this is "the first step in responding to the enemy's violation of its commitments," warning that "if the attacks continue, additional steps will be planned and implemented to force the enemy to adhere to and implement its commitments."
The US Army announced on Saturday that it was on “vigilance” after Iran announced the re-closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
