The media office of the Port of Tripoli announced that “the giant container ship MONTE CRISTO belonging to CMA CGM, which is 366 meters long and has a capacity of about 15 thousand standard containers (TEU), docked at the port, a few days after receiving the giant ship CMA CGM EUGENIE, in a new confirmation of the port’s growing international presence and its increasing role in global shipping traffic, which reflects the rapid transformation that the port is witnessing in Regional and international maritime transport map. He said in a statement: “The importance of this event is not limited to the records set by these giant ships, but rather goes beyond the strategic implications it carries, as it practically confirms that the port of Tripoli has become an essential part of the international navigation network of major maritime transport companies, and that it possesses the operational readiness, technical structure, and logistical capabilities that qualify it to receive this type of ship on a regular basis, reflecting the development it has witnessed in recent years.” The statement pointed out that the repeated docking of ships of this size within a short period of time reflects the growing level of confidence that the CMA CGM Group attaches to the port of Tripoli, and indicates the consolidation of its position as a hub port on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean, capable of serving regional and international trade movement and attracting trans-shipment and transshipment operations, thus strengthening Lebanon’s position as an advanced center for logistics services in the region, saying: “This development constitutes a practical translation of the vision aimed at transforming Tripoli into An integrated economic platform, based on the integration between the port and the special economic zone, reactivating the railway network, and benefiting from the capabilities provided by President Rene Moawad Airport in Qlayaat, which opens new horizons for investment and trade and gives northern Lebanon a pivotal role in the regional transportation and logistics system.” The statement stated, “The arrival of the giant ship MONTE CRISTO confirms that the Port of Tripoli has entered a new phase of its regional and international presence, transcending its traditional role as a local or alternative port, to consolidate its position as a strategic maritime gateway to Lebanon and a pivotal port in the Eastern Mediterranean, capable of attracting the largest international shipping lines and meeting the requirements of the new generation of container ships, thus opening promising prospects for economic and investment growth for Lebanon and its north and strengthening its position in the global trade system.”
