The Sharia Office at the institution of the scholar, the authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah, issued a statement in which it announced, “Tuesday, June 16, is the beginning of the new Hijri year 1448 AH and the beginning of the holy month of Muharram, based on the jurisprudential foundation of His Eminence, relying on accurate astronomical calculations with the possibility of sighting.”
