Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper revealed, quoting visitors from the President of the Republic, that direct communication between him and Hezbollah does not currently exist, and that any communication takes place through specific channels, indicating that he is following the positions of the Secretary-General of the party and is wondering about the alternative he is proposing in light of his positions rejecting negotiations. According to the newspaper, Aoun was surprised by what was being reported about the existence of contacts between the US President and Hezbollah, stressing that the American contact took place with the Lebanese ambassador in Washington, praising the role she played with Ambassador Simon Karam during the last stage. The newspaper added that the President of the Republic does not see conditions conducive to a comprehensive ceasefire or a simultaneous withdrawal between Israel and Hezbollah south of the Litani, but he is betting on the idea of “experimental areas” by starting with areas such as the eastern and western Zuatrin, Yahmar, and Beaufort Castle, with the Lebanese army deployed there. Regarding internal affairs, Al-Quds Al-Arabi reported from visitors to Baabda that there was clear harmony between Aoun and the Prime Minister, while denying any differences between the two presidencies. It also indicated the continuation of the relationship based on mutual respect with Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri despite the limited direct meetings in the recent period. The newspaper also pointed out that the President of the Republic denies the validity of what is rumored about the existence of a prior understanding with Hezbollah before his election, and considers these stories to be incorrect, stressing at the same time that the visit of the Army Commander to Islamabad was scheduled in advance and does not carry any exceptional political connotations.
