The Municipality of Maghdouche affirmed in a statement, “Adherence to the Lebanese state and its legitimate institutions, and keenness to maintain security, stability and civil peace, in light of the security developments and warnings received, and based on our responsibility to protect the town and its people.”
She said: “Given that the number of displaced people arriving has exceeded the town’s capacity, the municipal council decided not to receive any new displaced people in schools or homes until further notice. The municipality also calls on the displaced residents to adhere to the instructions issued by the municipality and the competent authorities and not to receive any new arrivals or visitors from outside the town, while emphasizing the necessity of adhering to these measures for the public interest and everyone’s safety, given the new circumstances.”
She added: “The Municipal Council, Chairman and members, appreciates the keenness and efforts of the security institutions and calls on them to take all necessary measures to follow up on incoming threats, and to strengthen monitoring, inspection and verification procedures for any data that may threaten the security of the town, in a way that ensures the protection of citizens and residents and the preservation of stability.”
She concluded: "Finally, the municipality confirms that the safety of the displaced is the safety of the people of Maghdoucheh, calling on everyone to be responsible and cooperate with the official authorities for the benefit of the town and all its residents."
