The Ministry of Public Health denounced in the strongest terms the attack against a doctor inside the emergency department of Tripoli Governmental Hospital, after a patient’s companions attacked him with a sharp object, which led to him being injured while performing his professional and humanitarian duty. The Ministry confirmed in a statement that this attack constitutes a blatant violation of the sanctity of hospital institutions and a direct attack on the medical and nursing staff, in addition to being a violation of the security and dignity of every citizen who goes to hospitals to receive treatment. The Ministry called on the Lebanese judiciary to take the necessary legal measures and impose the harshest penalties on those involved, to ensure the deterrence of any similar attack on hospitals and their workers.
