The Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Rima Karami, issued a memorandum specifying the Eid al-Fitr holiday in public and private schools, and it stated: “Based on Decree No. fifty-three dated February 8, 2025 (the government formation decree),
Based on Decree No. 2089 dated October 18, 1971 and its amendments, especially Article 4 thereof (specifying actual teaching days in public schools),
Based on the provisions of Decree No. 5215 dated September 27, 2005 (designating official holidays and events)
Based on Resolution No. 1460/M/2010 dated October 7, 2010 (specifying school holidays in public schools of all types and stages),
Based on Administrative Memorandum No. 4/2026 dated March 16, 2026 regarding the closure of public administrations and institutions on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, on the first and second days of the Eid, in accordance with the announcement of the Fatwa House for the first of Shawwal and the announcement of the Supreme Shiite Islamic Council for the first of it,
High schools, schools, and official and private technical institutes of all types and stages will be closed, and in-person and distance learning will stop in all its tracks, starting from the morning of the first day of Eid until the evening of Monday, the twenty-third of March 2026.
On this occasion, the Minister of Education and Higher Education extends her sincere wishes to all those working in education, in the public and private sectors, hoping that safety will prevail in our beloved country and highly appreciating the efforts of the educational sector during this period to play the required national role.
