Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz threatened to expand the circle of escalation, stressing that "if there is no calm in northern Israel, there will be no calm in Beirut." Katz added that Israel is going through an “unparalleled security phase” and is dealing with complex threats on near and far fronts. He also considered that "what applies to the southern suburb of Beirut applies to towns in northern Israel."
