The President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, received a phone call from US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, during which the general situation in Lebanon and the region and current developments were presented. During the call, President Aoun stressed the need to make all possible efforts to reach a ceasefire, as it is the basic gateway to moving to any other step, and the necessary path to creating the appropriate conditions to address the various files and issues raised. For his part, Rubio renewed the US administration’s commitment to continuing its efforts to consolidate the outcomes of previous Washington meetings, and also supported Lebanon’s stability, independence and sovereignty over its entire territory, and its natural and complete right to self-determination.
