Former head of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt, considered that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would not stop in Lebanon, indicating that the ceasefire agreements were not respected and that Israel was expanding the scope of its occupation south.
He believed that US President Donald Trump may be the only one capable of curbing Netanyahu, "but that is not certain."
Jumblatt stressed that he understands Hezbollah's resistance "because they are sons of the country," refusing to question their Lebaneseness despite their ideological connection to Iran.
He stressed that the restoration of Lebanese sovereignty begins with Israel's withdrawal and the confinement of weapons to the state, calling for the support of the Lebanese army with a multinational force that includes friendly countries, including France and Spain, to monitor the ceasefire after any Israeli withdrawal.
