Two US Navy fighter planes collided in the air while participating in a parade in the state of Idaho in the northwestern United States on Sunday, but no injuries were reported after the four pilots were able to jump with parachutes, according to media reports.
A statement posted on the Gun Fighter Skies Air Show website confirmed that "an accident occurred between two aircraft at Mountain Home Air Force Base" about "two miles northwest of the base."
He said: "Rescue teams are at the site and the accident is being investigated. More details will be published as they become available."
The local CBS News channel KOMO reported that four pilots ejected safely from two US Navy EA-18 aircraft.
A video clip posted on social media showed the two planes colliding in the air before crashing on the ground and turning into a mass of flame, while the pilots' parachutes were landing quietly.
The spokeswoman for the US Pacific Fleet Air Forces, Amelia Omayam, told KOMO Channel that the two EA-18G Grawlers that crashed were stationed on Whidbey Island, in Washington state.
NBC News reported that the accident caused the air show to be canceled and the base to be closed until rescue teams deal with the accident site and begin an investigation.
