On the forty-ninth anniversary of the assassination of Kamal Jumblatt, President Joseph Aoun said, “Despite the difficult circumstances that Lebanon is going through, today we recall the path of a man who formed a milestone in Lebanon’s political and intellectual history, with his reformist vision and deep belief in the values of freedom, justice, and dialogue among the components of the nation.” He added: "The deceased left a rich national and intellectual legacy, and paid with his life for his positions and convictions in defending a free, sovereign Lebanon, and the state of justice and institutions. This painful memory remains an occasion to emphasize adherence to the values that Kamal Jumblatt fought for, at the forefront of which is the unity of the Lebanese, consolidating coexistence, and working to build a strong, just state that protects all its people." He concluded: “May God have mercy on Kamal Jumblatt and protect Lebanon.”
