The Minister of Economy and Trade, Amer Al-Bassat, issued a circular setting the controls for displaying and marketing alternative food preparations to milk products, with the aim of protecting the consumer and preventing misinformation, based on the Consumer Protection Law. The circular stipulates separating these products from dairy products and their derivatives, placing an explanatory sign bearing the phrase “alternative food preparations for milk products,” prohibiting any labels or images that suggest they are milk products, in addition to prohibiting misleading promotional offers. The decision also includes advertisements, electronic platforms, and delivery services, and requires food establishments to disclose them among the components, with a period of one month to resolve the situation, provided that the Ministry of Economy intensifies oversight and takes legal measures against violators.
